"We form a unified whole together with her. Coppelia, a sawdust stuffed doll with porcelain face, is an ideal artist, always ready to perform a burlesque number in the hands of her partner. Shy and very self-confident at the same time she never misses a spectacular turn, comic trick or pas. She uses everything at her disposal to make us smile, laugh…and cry, when she falls apart in the hands of her creator at the end of the ballet.
But just as the curtain falls, legs, hands and head of Coppelia are screwed back again without tragic scenes. A beautiful young lady, laid in a box padded with cloth with written “Caution, fragile” on it, she is loaded into a transport van and is sent to the next location, where she will dance – always smiling and flapping her eyelashes to seduce the audience, which applauses her every night".
